We've had a good time in Sambiya, having done a water safari down the Nile and seen the amazing Murchison Falls. After an 8 hour bus journey we're now arriving back in Kampala and plan to head out for a Chinese meal this evening. Last day tomorrow - shopping at a market before a late (early am) flight home via Cairo.

We have arrived at our safari lodge where we have electricity from 7 - 10pm. Our rooms are separate from the main building so we have to watch for snakes and animals when going to our rooms (there were buffalo and warthogs last night!). This morning we've been on safari (we had to leave the lodge at 5am - joy!) and seen giraffe, buffalo, elephants, hippos, a 3 legged lion and many other animals. We're all well (although some of us are still praising God for His wonderful gift of imodium!) We are now having lunch in a restaurant with a phone signal!!!

Just back from a hot last day in Buusu village. We moved furniture into the newly painted and tiled dispensary and played with the local children. There were a lot of 'Ugandan timing' for the rest of the day. The original plan was to give out the goods we brought and be home by 2. However, in reality lunch didn't arrive until 2! So after lunch we walked around the village with t-shirts, shoes, balls, and toys, giving one item to each person we came across. They were very appreciative. After this we took 2 suitcases full to the orphanage. As we left there were one or two tears (and sobs from Steph!) as we said goodbye to some lovely people and wonderful kids, and 15 hot and tired bodies! But all healthy. We're of on our 8 hour bus trip tomorrow to the safari. I wonder what we will have for dinner in 30 minutes? Could it be rice, pasta and potatoes with matooki again..........yep we certainly have had enough carbs this week! If you are a parent reading this, get those fruit and veg in for your loved ones on Wednesday! (oh.....and some Ben & Jerry's!)

Chris has just eaten his breakfast (banana and all) without his hands! Yesterday we visited the Iganga Child Development Centre (CDC) that has links with compassion. We were treated to a 2.5 hour talk that explained the holistic approach that the CDC took to the children's development. Although the talk was tedious, it was full of some interesting information. The church was doing very good work educating and preparing children for living in rural Uganda. In some ways it sounded quite similar to FBC, and they were very intrigued about our ministry. We looked through some files and visited some of the children who attended CDC, and met 2 albino boys on the way

Even though it's Africa where things change all the time, today's schedule remained quite similar! We were all thrilled when the whole team was up and ready to work. So we split into two teams: one o the Suubi Medical Clinic and on to the school. At Suubi we began painting the new pharmacy with paint that was basically water. Later on we had the real Uganda experience and prepared our own dinner. Who knew matokke (a type of cooked banana) was so hard to make? Then, a spectacular game of football which ended in a draw but we lost on penalties (even with help from the ref!) We ended with an outreach assembly after which over 100 people gave their lives to Jesus!!!! So today ended with us knowing that there is a major party going on in heaven! Just of to an epic bonfire with a bunch of kids and friends and absolutely starving....
