Hi All.
Day 2 and we've had much wetter weather today but still good fun! We had a bit of a history and cultural lesson this morning from Graham (the pastor of Louise' church) followed by a much needed language learning session to help us not offend everybody we meet!
After lunch we braved the (very) wet weather and followed our plan to do some litter-picking
around the area of the church. Armed with gloves. bags and wearing our
T-shirts over our jackets to help be a good advert for the church, we
split off into groups and then just smiled as we received the rather
odd but endearing looks from the locals. :)
Went back to the hotel for a warm shower and heating, but no electricity or water! :( Nice people though. :)
We
then had a bit of free time where some people went to check out the
local shops etc and then headed off up to Louise' flat for a time of
devotion and reflecting on the day. That takes us up to right now where
everyone has legged it off to Tim andHelen's (English workers at the church) to watch a DVD and eat some pizza!
I thought i'd quickly put this blog entry in, but i'd
better go now before I never find anyone again and they find me years
later living with a rather nice Albanian family but still only able to
say my Albanian name (Davidi) and that "i'm from England" :)
Off on a day trip tomorrow to an old castle etc. Should be good fun. I'll update again tomorrow.
Hope England is ok and recovering from a raft of sporting disappointments.
Over and out. :)
P.S. Lesson 1 for the UK - You can go anywhere in Tirana on a bus for 20 Lek. That's about 12p!
