Whizz Kids is a friendly Sunday morning group for children aged 3 - 6. We meet for approximately 45 minutes and enjoy a variety of activities. The format is fairly structured to allow these young children to familiarise themselves with the routine and to provide continuity. Teachers use the more traditional resources of large fuzzy felts and children's Bibles in order to communicate popular biblical stories.
A typical session would consist of taking a register; an introductory
activity invlolving Norman the Whizz Kids dog puppet; a Bible story
with visual stimulus; a prayer time in which each child is offered an
opportunity to pray aloud; a singing time (mainly action songs) and
some craft related to the story.
Each of the four teachers bring their own styles and strengths to
the group and they are all assisted by an adult or youth helper on a
rota basis. During the yearly programme we plan for two parties which
take place instead of the normal session. Visitors and newcomers are
always made welcome and all enjoy the range of activities provided
within a safe and caring environment.
