ALPHA TEAM MEMBER

Purpose of the Role
Alpha is a place for people to explore faith without pressure or judgment. It is an opportunity to ask questions and hear the views and experiences of others so that people can make their own decisions about Jesus.

Vision
To create a safe, welcoming environment to explore faith and learn more about Jesus.

What is the role all about?
There are many ways to be part of the Alpha team:
  • Group leaders eat with participants, build relationships and lead a small group discussion based on the Alpha videos and materials, leaving plenty of space for conversation and questions.
  • Team members eat with participants and build relationships. Your role is to share some of your story and encourage people to explore faith for themselves, not to have all of the answers. A key part of this is to leave space for the group to discuss and share their own ideas.
  • Cooks provide food (main course and/or dessert) for an evening based on numbers and dietary requirements provided.
  • Servers heat and serve the food provided by the cooks. They wash up and clear plates after the meals leaving the kitchen clean and tidy for the next users.

Why is the role important?
We want to help people explore faith and encounter Jesus for themselves - you’ll be part of this by creating a safe environment for questioning and discussion of the Christian faith. In sharing your own story and humbly admitting that you don’t have all the answers yourself you help people discover their own path and faith.
