For our community

What we do

We want to be good news and seek to actively love and serve our community in a variety of ways. We run the following weekly activities at the FBC centre and everyone is welcome to come and join us.
Share @ FBC
On a Tuesday morning, volunteers lay out tables, outside the FBC centre, full of food collected from local food suppliers, that would have otherwise been wasted. Fruit and vegetables, bread and some other items are available. Anyone from the community is welcome to come at 9:45am and fill a bag to help reduce food waste and meet others in our community. There is a friendly atmosphere and there is no cost for the food, although small donations are appreciated. This is part of Share Wokingham, to find out more visit https://sharewokingham.co.uk/
The Friendship Table @ FBC
The Friendship Table meet every Tuesday from 10am until midday in the FBC cafe. The simple concept is to provide somewhere to meet new people in our community, chat and enjoy the company of others. The conversation is varied, friendships are being formed each week and new people are warmly welcomed. The Friendship Table at FBC is one of many in Wokingham, to find out more visit https://www.linkvisiting.org/friendship-alliance
Let's Talk @ FBC
We have a small group who meet on a Monday afternoon from 2pm - 3pm in the FBC cafe to make new friends and practice speaking English. The group is run by a few English speaking volunteers for people whose first language is not English. We do a few simple activities each week and talk about everyday life, interests and faith. Children are welcome but remain the responsibility of their adult.

How to access support

Get in touch

Everyone is welcome at the FBC Centre and there is always someone to speak to. Tuesday mornings are a good time to come down as there is lots of community happening with Share and the Friendship Table. We are also in contact with other local organisations, so if we can’t help we will try to direct you to someone who can. Alternatively, if you can’t get to the building you can send us a message using the form.
I'm Naomi M, the Community Teams coordinator
here at FBC. I'd love to help you feel supported.
Use this form to get in touch.

Get involved

Volunteering is a great way to connect with other people in our community and to serve others. There are lots of ways to get involved in our community teams.

FBC community fund

Our community fund exists to offer one off gifts to those in our community in financial hardship situations. We can pay for essential items or services that will make a difference. If you are a family or individual in financial need, you can find our Community Fund application form below. We do ask that all applications are supported by someone who works for an organisation in the community who knows you. More information can be found on the form or in the community fund policy document.
