Purpose of the Role
Small Groups exist to help people grow spiritually through meeting regularly with others and building relationships. The role of a Connect Group Leader is to create space for people to come together, share their own experiences, ask questions, and grow in their faith in community.

We believe that connecting with others helps us grow in our faith. As a Connect Group leader your role is to keep the mission of helping people grow in their faith at the heart of the group.

Who is this role for?
- A follower of Jesus with a growing faith.
- Have group experience (ideally).
- Have the time, emotional capacity and moral discernment to lead a group.
- Someone friendly and welcoming who is willing to be honest about their own faith journey and challenges.
- Someone who wants to help others grow in their faith.
- Assent to our statement of faith.
What are the expectations for this role?
- Run weekly or fortnightly gatherings (term time or throughout year as you choose) plus planning, preparation, and communication between sessions.
- Attendance at Group Leaders’ gatherings a couple of times a year.
- Keep what is shared in the group confidential.
- Seek support and help from the Small Groups Co-ordinator as needed
- Be a positive point of connection and information sharing between the leadership team and those in your group
- DBS and Safeguarding training as requested by FBC team.
