What is this role all about?
This is a practical, behind the scenes role which enables us to care for our community and waste less food. This role is driving to collect food from one of the local businesses who are supporting Share and then bringing it to FBC and storing it safely.
Why is this role important?
This role is essential for the running of Share at FBC, as without the food being collected we have nothing to distribute on a Tuesday morning to the 40 guests who come.
Who is this role for?
This role is ideal for someone who works but has some spare time in the evening and a desire to be involved in the community team. This role is for someone who can drive a car with a reasonably large boot and can commit to serving on a rota and collecting at a specific time on their duty day. There is some lifting involved in this role. The collection places are in Wokingham (and one in Woodley) and the collection times are between 5:45pm and 10pm.
What is the expectation for this role?
- To complete a volunteer application form
- To read through the policies and guidelines
- To be reliable and commit to a rota
- To have a car with a reasonably large boot
- To be able to lift and carry crates of food
- To be able to bring the food to FBC and store it safely in the designated places
- To be able to communicate clearly and politely with staff at the collection locations
- To keep track of any updates on procedure via messages as there may not be any in person contact with other team members
