Too Good to waste

What is this role all about?
This role is about going the extra mile to waste less food. Some of the food collected for Share from the supermarkets, has to be handed out that same day (as it’s got a ‘used by’ date) and therefore we need volunteers to be based at FBC on a Monday evening as the food collection volunteers drop off to sort through the food and pack five ‘Too good to waste bags’ for the five guests who won the raffle. This role is about checking the dates on the food and organising it but also about chatting to the guests who are collecting and being welcoming and friendly.
Why is this role important?
This role is important as it helps us to comply with food safety guidance but also reduces food waste as the food is going to people rather than in the bin. Volunteers in this role, also become the friendly welcoming face for the share collection volunteers as well as the guests who have won the raffle to take a bag home.
Who is this role for?
This role is for someone who is available on a Monday evening between 8:30pm and 10pm. This role is for someone who can follow a procedure and is diligent but is also a friendly and welcoming presence.
