The Cross (3): The Great Escape: Did Jesus Defeat the Devil? (Sept. 2026)
The early church emphasised a story about the cross, that we don't often hear explicitly: Christ as cosmic warrior, storming the gates of death to free humanity from slavery to sin, Satan, and the grave. This session recovers the ancient Christus Victor tradition — the church's dominant view for over a thousand years — and asks what we lost when we stopped telling it this way.

The Cross (2): The wrath of God was satisfied? (July 2026)
Did an angry God need to be appeased before he could love us — or is that a caricature of something far more profound? This session unpacks penal substitution and satisfaction theory, the view that Christ bore the punishment humanity deserved so that divine justice and divine mercy could meet at the cross. We'll wrestle honestly with its power and its most pointed critiques.

The Cross (1): What did Jesus really accomplish on the cross? (June 2026)
For two thousand years, Christians have agreed the cross matters — but wildly disagreed on why. Was it a payment, a rescue, a demonstration, or something bigger than any single word can capture? This opening session sets the stage by surveying the landscape of atonement theory before we dive deep into each competing account.

Creation or Evolution? (May 2026)
Before Adam and Eve enter the story, Genesis 1 makes bold claims about the cosmos itself — but what kind of claims are they? This session explores how young-earth creationism, old-earth creationism, and theistic evolution each read those six days.
